FAQs

How might therapy help?

We now know that suppressing emotions and feelings can negatively impact our mental and physical well-being. We need to learn how to feel and express our emotions in order to process them. I am here to provide a safe space while we explore what might be underlying for you.

Is it confidential?

Counselling is a space where you need to feel comfortable and safe, it is completely confidential except in certain legal or ethical circumstances. They are mainly to do with physical harm i.e. if I was concerned that you are a danger to yourself or others, child protection, or terrorism. Where I feel you are a danger to yourself in most circumstances we will talk that through together first.

In meeting BACP AND UKCP ethical standards I also have regular supervision with other trained counsellors where we discuss my practice together using first names only.

How long are the sessions?

The sessions are fifty minutes long and unfortunately due to ongoing appointments if you are late we will keep to the same time frame.

How do you work?

I work in a person-centered relational way. This means I stay with what you bring, being led by you, not directing. There will be gentle challenges to allow for exploration and insight. I aim for us to work together to build a trusting open, safe relationship.

Cancellation fee

If the cancellation is less than twenty-four hours the full fee is payable. More than twenty-four hours it is free.

What are the expectations of me?

In order to get the best out of your counselling sessions, I would like you to be as open and honest as possible. To be open to exploration together.
